Problem Note 47940: Performance is slow on SAS® Universal Viewer 1.2 and SAS® Universal Viewer 1.3 when opening SAS® data sets that contain trailing blanks

DetailsAboutRate It

When opening a SAS data set that contains trailing blanks, SAS Universal Viewer 1.2 and SAS Universal Viewer 1.3 take a longer time to open these data sets. Trailing blanks that have been trimmed cause the slow performance.

To work around this issue, do the following within the SAS Universal Viewer:

  1. Select Tools ► Options ► Formats.
  2. Deselect Apply SAS formats by default.

This enables the SAS Universal Viewer to open the data sets at a normal speed.

A fix for this issue is planned for a future software release.
